The older I get, the harder this dating thing is. At some point we tend to get a little stuck in our ways. I think this comes from being alone for a period of time and thinking that I am so self reliant. The truth is that I want somebody to walk the rest of this path of life with. And that is going to require me to change. I don't think we get to this age without acquiring some baggage. I know I did. Its a lot easier for me not to carry that around. My attitudes and behaviors are all I really have control over anyway. It is simply understanding that the woman I am getting to know is about the same age as me and is going through a similar experience. I try and look at her feelings and what's going on with her. This brings a relatedness that leads to empathy and compassion which ultimately gives kindness. I am in this period of becoming more aware of my relationship with not just everyone but everything around me. Yes, Life is really big and scary. But, it is also so wondrous. That is if I take the time to enjoy the journey instead of looking for a destination.
